Travertine paving

For centuries travertine has been regarded as a quality building material, applauded for both its aesthetic and durable qualities.  Named after the Italian town, Tivoli, travertine can be found in both the modern domestic home and world-famous architectural landmarks such as Rome’s Colosseum.

Belonging to the limestone family, travertine is a sedimentary rock which boasts a beautiful, natural finish featuring pitted holes and marks. This is the result of carbon dioxide rich water which has passed through the rocks over many years.  Staying faithful to travertine’s natural appearance, Stone’s Trader’s travertine is six-sided, machine-cut and tumbled resulting in a beautiful, rustic look.

In its purest form travertine is white in colour, but natural impurities colour the stone and provide a wealth of stunning colour variations, ideal for creating paving stones for patios and paving slabs for gardens.   If you’re looking to create an attractive Mediterranean feel to your outdoor space, travertine is definitely worth strong consideration.
